A World Without
How can’t you see if someone’s hurting,
if someone’s in pain?
How would you know if someone needs your help,
to achieve,
be successful,
or believe.
The way I see it is,
you see with no eyes,
and hear with no ears,
the cries,
and the pain of others.
Why do you pretend,
as if you don’t or can’t understand,
what some people are going through?
The world is no place, for someone like you.
You just sit there and watch,
and listen,
to people getting stabbed,
deprived,
and spit on.
But if it happened to you,
would you cry out for help?
Who am I?
Who am I?
Where have I been?
Sadistic acts committed against me
Unnecessary acts of violence
Murders.
Lynchings.
People not caring.
Hard work 4 no pay
Families taken away
Sold away.
Am I gift?
Naw.
My past is dark
but my future is bright.
And when I make it
I wont
Will not
4get my roots.
Change
by Ebner
someone once said
“you must be the
change you want to
see in the world”
change you tell me
you want me to
change
“think again,”
before you tell
me “what I can
and can’t do.”
teachers and parents tell
you to do the
right thing
when they do all sorts of
bad things
change you tell me
no one can be
the change in the
world when no one
wants to change.
there’s a girl named anonymous
by Tashia
there’s a girl named anonymous
she cries
to sleep every night
wondering what her future’s
going to be like…
there’s a girl named anonymous
she’s very tranquil
the type you could like…
she dreams
about her future
then wonders if it’ll ever
come true…
it’s just another day
of reflecting
of what should have been
or what could be
it’s just another day
for that girl named anonymous
she wakes up frantically breathing
she dreamt about resigning
there’s a girl named anonymous
she wonders if she’s going to die…
from dreams of death.
Poetry
by TyRik
My teacher told me to
write some stuff. I really
don’t like poetry and I
think I’ve had enough
The words are all arranged
in a funny way that you
cannot understand if you
try and try all day.
There are poems about flowers
and poems about trees. I think
I’d go crazy if I tried to
write poems like these.
She said to listen to music
but my music makes more
sense. Cause rappers are better
poets and are never hard or dense.
So I’m going to tell my
teacher that I’m going to try it
but when it comes to poetry,
I really just can’t write it!!!
Why I Want to Leave
by Elisel
I can’t be scared
I have to use my voice
it may shock other people
but it is my choice
Sometimes I wanna leave
and not come back
they hurt me and
I can’t hurt them back
I try to use
my only voice
but they weigh me down
down
down
Am I a weirdo
or someone crazy?
They hurt my feelings
but I can’t do the same
I sometimes picture
bad images
out of anger
and humiliation
In my house
I cry and cry
my eyes like a river
they don’t run dry
I may act dumb
and stupid
but I know things
they did
And in conclusion
what I have up my sleeve
is the reason
why I wanna leave
Life
by Gregory
Life is just like a tree
As you get older, you grow
With age, it shows
Life sometimes you hate
You feel as if you’re the most despised person in the entire state
You always get picked on
You always get teased
Your parents are always yelling at you
Telling you what to do
What to wear
When to eat
When to go to sleep
What to put on your feet
Who to see
And who they want you to be
Life is sometimes joyous
Filled with laughs and cheer
You are cool, calm, and have no fear
You have happy days and happy nights
None of which are filled with fright
You enjoy the wonders of life despite everything else
Even when a lot of pain is felt
D.C.
by Elmer
I’m from PS1 to PS3
to movies to TV shows
I play and I watch
resident evil
I’m from a city that can handle
crime most of the time
to school that is boring by
the way to sometimes
friendly teachers to
lots of homework
to friends
I’m from a home
with mocking brothers
to sarcastic sisters
to a loving mom
to a great dad
I’m from a city where the
people hold the power
white house to pentagon
to president
I’m not from new york or
chicago or baltimore or even
hollywood, no none of these
cities which I would go
see
I’m from D.C.
Take Your Time!!!
by Jade
Girls out here want to be grown,
live on their own
smacking their teeth
smack.
when is this going to stop?
Maybe,
when they look at the news,
see the girls who got the blues,
Mama’s crying
her baby ran away
Yeah girl
I want to be grown.
A friend told me.
Hot mamas
bringing on the heat
but you want to be like
me!!!
Girls can’t wait to look good,
party all night
Dang!!
That’s not right
Mama’s over here
crying
whining
where’s her baby girl?
why?
she’s gone
I don’t know
I told her she was wrong
I know she don’t want to be
raped
killed
or hung.
slow your role
take your time
It don’t cost you a dime.
life can move fast
take your time
think about it.
staying young will give you enough time!
hair is just a four letter word
by Tinaeya
hair is just a four letter word
it can’t buy clothes
or put food on the table
it’s just like a long bushy horse’s tail
swishin away in the stable
hair is just a four letter word
waiting to be defined
ready to get drenched in harsh chemicals
in just a matter of time
hair is just a four letter word
it may be long
it may be short
you may even see a couple grays
but hair is just a four letter word
covered in lots of oily sprays
hair is just a four letter word
all dried out with no style
messy like uncooked bean curd
that makes it hard to smile
hair is just a four letter word.
God Why ME?
God, why did you
choose me? To take
up oxygen on this
lovely earth?
God, why did you put me
on this earth to
just take up space
when other angles
could be in my
place?
God, why did you give
my mom that egg that
grew in her stomach
and call it a miracle?
God, I have a question:
Why me?
Car by Kai Lin I am like a car, My mother drives. The moment I am born, She stuck in traffic. The car is a turtle, trying to go around the world! Oh, the care moves slowly, as a child growing up. Mom keep driving the car, try to open her eye. “Don’t sleep.” “Don’t cry.” “Don’t complain.” Mom mumbling to herself, While she’s driving the car. As the car moves forward, the less stress mom had. Mom spend money for gas, so the car would move. The car is very moody, it stop when it was hungry, it feel hot when the car is sick, it is a hard worker when it run on the highway. Mom takes good care of the car, as she takes good care of me. Mom works as a machine, “No sleep.” “No break.” “No emotion.” Mom just keeps driving the car, she knew the car will be there someday! If mom makes it, to a place with no traffic, Then mom will be free, When a child is 18. “More fun.” “More rest.” and no stress. If I am 18, then my mom is a car. But now I’m 13, so I’m still mom’s car. I Hate You Dad I hate you dad some might say, not knowing the effects that might lay while some might sit, hope, and pray that one day, that dad will come astray where he should retake his throne, as the man of the household day and day we sing and pray that dad will come home and play catch, or at least give us a word of advice for picking up girls or buying us old spice but a boy can only dream and reason of oh how much I hate you dad. We Had it All by Elijah We had it all, we had Adidas, Gold Chains, Champagne, and ever night we made it rain on them, hoses of water, we had fun in the summertime cuz we had the slip'n'slide and we had John Legend so we had nine, We only had God way back when and had to sing hymns when one of us was leaving to be w/HIM, We had a preacher but it wasn't Joel Osteen it was more of a Betty Peeples, When my mom was young she would drift back kick back and listen to Tu-Pack...I mean Tupac. We had GoGo and I mean the good GoGo not today's shitake is a Japanese dish but we had taste some ate it anyway We had stressful days so we had ourselves some mary-- but through it all we had each other. by Mercury People might say you're gone But you're not Even though you're dead You're still here I see you in my dreams And you're in my soul I think about you all the time And that's how I know You're still here I never say I miss you Because I don't believe that You're gone, I don't cry Because you're still here You were young And had a long life ahead of you You didn't deserve that But don't worry because I believe You're still here You're in a great place Heaven is great for you I know you're looking down on me And I miss you too But guess what? You're still here [a tear] Hey You by Jackelyn Hey You! Yeah you. The one who lives in the White House You think you are all High and Mighty Sending innocent lives Out for fighting Think you have a right To risk their lives Don't You?! Hurting families, children Husbands and wives. It's all about power Not knowing whose blood You spatter! Forty Four murders, over time You don't even care That one really big murder You have all shared. Going against a Law you created No one saw Past the good intended Soldiers brave at heart Able to aim, shoot Then Hide. Escaping punishment For a very big Homicide. It hides to gun triggers And Bombs It's guilt free for now Hiding in figures proud And Strong. Americans, authorities, and Soldiers Hypocrites in mind That injustice, Stubbornly, They will not find. All punished, Sooner or later By the same crime committed- We all have taken part in this- For a power greater... Than that of the Enemy. You guys, this is Ms. Ford's dad. I am totally knocked out by these poems. I just had a chance to read them through once quickly, but I'll go back for a long look. You should be extremely proud, all of you. I know just how hard this work can be.
ReplyDeleteI recognized a lot of your names--in fact just about all of them (all I hear is good things, I promise). I hope I'm going to get down to meet everyone by the end of the year. Keep up the good work--and go easy on Ms. Ford.
All the best to each of you--John Ford
